What Is Anaerobic Respiration ?

What is anaerobic respiration ?

Anaerobic cellular respiration ⇒ Is the process of producing ATP or a sort of cellular energy without the use of oxygen. This process uses the stored glucose in the mitochondria and breaks it down to pyruvate by the process known as glycolysis to produce ATP. Some pyruvate also enters the kreb cycle to produce more ATP without using Oxygen and as a result it produces lactic acid. ATP is also known as adenosine triphosphate which serves as energy for the cell to carry out its function.

Oxygen plays a vital role in energy production that is way we breath faster if we do some activity like exercise. If it happens that you exercise in high intensity, your lungs cannot keep up in providing oxygen to body that our body required. As a result, our cell undergo the process known as anaerobic respiration to provide the demand in the body. The lactic acid produce in the process stimulates the pain receptor that is why we feel some muscle pain after high intensity exercise.
